Matching Your Wedding Accessories With Your Theme

When it comes to weddings, creating a harmonious and stylish aesthetic becomes an integral part of the journey. Accessory choices can bring your vision to life and elevate the overall style narrative.

If you are wearing your hair up, a gorgeous headpiece like a comb or pin is a great choice. If you are going for a bohemian look, you might choose an ethereal crown or vine-style headpiece, and even match your bangle bracelet to your wedding ring.

Groomsmen Accessories

Whether your groom-to-be is a traditional three-piece tuxedo guy or a beach-ready button-down and suit pants kind of dude, there are plenty of ways to add some style to his look for the big day. But it can be tough to know what accessories are appropriate and how to make them complement your wedding theme. To help, we turned to two menswear experts — Angel A. Ramos, the creative director of menswear fashion label ANGEL RAMOS and Courtney Dion Mays, a wardrobe consultant and menswear stylist with 18 years in the industry — to get their take on groomsmen style tips that are on point for your wedding.

One of the easiest and most impactful ways to add your wedding colors to a groom’s or groomsmen’s look is with ties, which are typically made in a wide range of colors. For example, if you’re planning a summer wedding, a floral patterned tie can be a stylish, show-stopping accent that really brings your color palette to life.

Cufflinks, which are used to secure dress shirt cuffs, are another popular accessory that can be customized for your wedding. Mays suggests choosing a pair with an engraved message, like a monogram, wedding date or a phrase that has meaning for you and your fiancé.

Suspenders, which are worn around a man’s waist and typically attach to his belt via a butterfly clasp, can also add a pop of on-palette color to the look. Mays says adding a pair in the same shade as your vest or cummerbund will create a more visually cohesive outfit. Finally, tie bars can be a subtle way to bring your theme into your groomsmen’s look.

Socks

Socks are a basic piece of clothing that can be worn on the feet. They are usually made of cotton, wool, polyester, acrylic fibre, silk, or nylon and come in pairs. Socks are used to protect the feet from blisters and keep them warm, but they also serve as fashion accessories. They can be a fun way to show off a personality or complement the color and theme of a wedding.

Socks can be worn with a variety of footwear, including dress shoes. They are often white or black to match the rest of the outfit, but they can be a more colorful choice to match the theme. There are a variety of styles available, from no-show socks to knee-high socks.

A groom can accessorize his socks with cufflinks or a pocket square. The cufflinks can be personalized with initials or a special symbol to add a personal touch to his look. The pocket square can be used to match the socks or tie, and it can create a great photo opportunity for the groom.

The bride can coordinate her accessories with the groom’s to add a cohesive look to the bridal party. She can also add unique touches to her own look with a headpiece or jewelry. If the bride wants to incorporate heirloom jewelry, she should bring it along while dress shopping. That way, she will be sure that it matches the dress perfectly.

Wedding accessories may seem like minor details, but they have a big impact on the overall aesthetic and style of the wedding. By paying attention to detail and seeking professional advice, the bride and groom can create a cohesive style that reflects their personalities.

Cufflinks

Cufflinks are a must for any formal occasion and are a great way to add that finishing touch to your outfit. While they are traditionally worn with tuxedos or suits, they can be worn with other types of clothing as well. They can be a great addition to jeans and a button down shirt for a casual dinner or even with a suit jacket and t-shirt for a formal business meeting.

There are many different styles of cufflinks to choose from, so finding the right ones for your wedding is easy. Some options include metal cufflinks, stone cufflinks, and novelty designs. Some cufflinks are available in multiple colors so you can match them to your color scheme, and others have special features such as being waterproof or having a built-in breather hole.

When choosing a pair of cufflinks, it’s important to consider the theme of your wedding and how the accessories will fit in with the rest of your outfit. For example, if your theme is nautical, a set of anchor cufflinks will look great with your outfit and will tie in with your other décor items. Other cufflinks may feature a floral pattern that will match your bridesmaid dresses, making them a great choice for your maid of honor.

When choosing cufflinks, it’s also important to consider how easy they will be to put on. For example, chain style cufflinks have a flexible chain connecting the front and back ends, which can make them a little more difficult to get on. Alternatively, a whale back cufflink has rounded fixtures on both sides and is easier to slip through the sleeve holes. Lastly, ball return cufflinks have a solid fixed backing that’s simpler to attach than a hinged bar design.

Neckties

A necktie is a classic groomsmen accessory that can add some color to your wedding. You can find a wide variety of colors, styles, patterns and materials. Some popular options include solids, polka dots, foulards, paisley patterns, university and regimental ties, and even a white tie! Necktie accessories such as tie clips, chains, tie straps and bars are also available and can add a great touch to your look. Some of these can be engraved with the groom or groomsmen’s initials for a special personalized touch.

Groomsmen can also stand out with unique cufflinks. There are many cufflink designs to choose from including ones that have locket-style cases that open to show photos, decals, or sports team logos. Others are fashioned from gemstones or diamonds for an extra-special look. These can be paired with matching socks for a coordinated look.

For the bride, a unique headpiece can make her stand out among her wedding party. Floral crowns, tiaras, and vintage-inspired headbands are just some of the many styles to consider. A crown made of natural or artificial flowers can complement a romantic bridal gown, while a headpiece with embroidered feathers or beads can be a perfect fit for a beach wedding.

Earrings are another important bridal accessory that can add a pop of color to your look. Bold statement earrings can be a great choice for a dramatic dress, while subtle studs or dangles are better suited to more refined dresses. You can also find a wide selection of bridal necklaces, from simple chain designs to elaborate pendants and chokers.

Suspen2ders

Suspenders, or braces as they are more commonly known in the UK, can add a dapper touch to any outfit. They are available in a variety of colors and styles, including patterned suspenders, which make great wedding accessories for grooms who want to stand out. Pair them with a suit or blazer for a polished look, or with a pair of jeans and a dress shirt to give the outfit a more casual feel.

The easiest way to wear suspenders is with a back strap that attaches to the pants. The front straps can then be looped through the belt loops or buttoned into place. Suspenders that button on are considered a bit more formal than clip-on suspenders. Loop suspenders can also be used with pants that don’t have belt loops, but they will need to be sewn on the inside of the waistband.

When selecting suspenders, be sure to choose ones with a width that suits your personal style. Wider suspenders can look a bit more casual, while thinner straps look more formal.

For a really polished look, consider matching the color of the suspenders with other accessories. For example, a navy blue pair of suspenders would go well with a white suit and striped tie, as well as with a pair of brown leather shoes.
